I agree with everything Ron said and asked....
I am still not sold on the unit as it seems to be very temperamental and quite cumbersome to set-up. Maybe I'll change my mind once I actually see it in action.
I would just really hate to see half a round or an entire round lost because it over heated and crashed.

What is the maximum range of the antennas that come with the system?



Do we need a better longer range antenna system that is capable of raising
the antennas to 10 ft or more?  Some fields may not have shelters that are
reasonably close to the flight line.  For example, Weak signals.

OK, here's where we stand:
Yesterday we decided to buy an electronic scoring system at a cost of
roughly $2000.  The NSRCA will give us $500 towards the system and we agreed
to use $1000 of the roughly $1400 we have in our treasury (Dave's sock) and
raise the remaining $500 through donations.
At this point I have received $550 in donations from four donors.
But
I contacted Peter Vogel about exact cost and it turns out that we can buy a
system for $2050.the exact amount we have on hand.but that only includes
four controllers.  The controllers seem to be the weak link in the system,
so if we only have four and one fails we're out of business.
The system with eight controllers costs $2756.91.
Several guys at the contest offered donations and three have come through
already.  If you would like to donate, please contact me off list.
