Dennis, one can re4trieve logos and other graphics and text from a web site and create a very official-looking page. I always hover over links in the email or website to see whether the link actually goes where it syas it is going. One can create a web page that says http://www .faa.gov.esso.gov.com, and it will not go anywhere near the actual FAA site. The are really sneaky! The fake URL "www.faa.gov" could point to the real URL http:www.tinyurl.???
Ya just gotta be careful AND paranoid -- they really are out to get your ID and $$$$!

Start out by typing:
"faa.gov" ONLY in your browser's address
bar. Then scroll down to the bottom of that web page and
follow the links to "Register your UAS".
It should only ask you for
your:
1) email address
2) a password
3) a response to
a confirmation email sent back to you
4)
some personal information: First / Last Name. Physical
Address. Everything else is OPTIONAL.
5)
Your Credit Card information
6) An emailed
and a printable copy of your shiny new FAA certificate.
