For our F3A pilots out there who want to practice Unknowns before the NATS:
My service for F3A Team USA: http://www.faiunknowngenerator.com has been
updated with the 2016-2017 F3A sporting code's catalog of maneuvers as well
as the new rules for unknowns (must include at least one maneuver from
catalogs 19 or G, 20 or H, 22 and 23, must have 3 maneuvers of K=6 and 5
maneuvers of K=5, minimum total K=72 (no maximum, but the practical maximum
seems to fall at about 75 with most sequences being 72 or 73). It's also
been updated to provide a link to get the PDF of the Aresti as well as
displaying the Aresti in the page. The table of maneuvers has been
rejiggered to handle smaller form factor devices better and not clip the
maneuver descriptions.
MasterScoring has been updated to call the unknown generator to generate
unknowns and will soon be updated so that the call card printed by
MasterScoring includes the Aresti. This *may* be the system used to
generate unknowns for the NATS (details regarding that will be forthcoming
from the AMA and the ED) which will allow for unknowns to be generated in
the presence of all finalists, the ED and the head judge. *If you discover
a sequence that you believe to be invalid according to the latest F3A
rules, please send me a note along with the Aresti of the sequence or a
screen shot of the sequence from RCCaller and I will investigate. We've
used the system to generate unknowns at 2 contests this year and I've
generated 100's and haven't found any to be invalid yet, but the
possibility certainly exists. If you encounter other problems, errors on
the page, no sequence generated within a few minutes of loading the page,
etc. please send me a note with the approximate time you attempted to
generate a sequence and I will investigate.*
I have also updated the RCCaller iOS app to call the unknown generator for
you -- click "Schedules", click the "+" button, set the schedule name to
something you like "i.e. Unknown" and click "Generate Unknown" -- with a
good network connection about 30-60 seconds later (generating an unknown
can take a while, it is an iterative process that sometimes has to scrap
its work and try again when it gets to an unsolvable state) you'll have a
new unknown in the RCCaller, hit "save" and it's ready to call that unknown
sequence for you.
I wrote and pay to host this service. If you want to help defray the not
insignificant hosting costs for the service, please consider clicking on
the donate button if you find it useful!
