Thanks for all the responses. I will try our local fire department. If not, I will build a discharge jig with an auto light load.

Consider an alternative for Lipo disposal. I have donated mine to the local fire departments for them to use in training and to see how to deal with Lipo fire. They can puncture them in controlled environment and practice extinguishing them. They are dealing with hover boards catching fire and drug dealers are using Lipo for a heat source in taking drugs (nothing can go wrong with that, right) drone 'strikes' (errant quad copters with over extended battery capability) and the periodic garage and car fire.

Who are you referring to?

I'm having mine built because he is much better at it than I...

He is currently finishing up my Shinden, and the my Lucky Dog Allure will be after that.

I have a Monolog I'm going through and will fly it this weekend.

One battery pack out of 8 has a dead cell.

The process I use is to fully discharge the pack using a automotive tail light bulb, strip the mail leads back a couple inches and twist them together then dispose of if in the trash. Fully discharged, lipos pose no environmental dangers.

I have a LiPo 5s 5000mAh pack that has a dead cell (1.6v).

What is the best way to dispose of this battery?
