[NSRCA-discussion] 2016 NATS Dates

Problem with that is that all sigs are not equal. Probably should give each
sig a vote based on the number of people entrants, not number of entrants
per event. For example, pylon typically has several races and events but
there are usually just a hand full of people. Same with some other sigs
such as free flight, etc.
Should also be qualified based on how it effects the given sig.

Guys,
The AMA doesn't set the Nats schedule, the SIGs do. They each get one vote.
The Nats dates WERE June 28th- July 2 which would have been horrible. AL
and NSRCA board are to be commended for getting us dates that are only a
week off from the norm.
This date is also not set in stone yet. The AMA does have to vote on it.
It's merely the proposed schedule that's been submitted collectively by the
SIGs.
Complaining is likely to make this worse not better. They're already moving
Camp AMA to accommodate us.
We have one of the more coveted spots (late July) on the Nats calendar so
it's not surprising the other SIGs would want to occasionally shift things
around. If we were part of a less fortunate Sig we'd feel pretty slighted
that the schedule never moves.
I'm personally more concerned that we won't get our old spot back in the
future. If we're not careful, this could be the new norm.

IRCHA wanted our dates? IRCHA's "event" at the AMA site is not a
competition event, so why would they have priority over one AMA's biggest
and most active SIG's
competition event?

The AMA held their planning meeting and our ED, Al Glenn, attended via
telephone. The AMA, along with their S.I.G.'s laid out the dates.
Precision Aerobatics wasn't really given much, if any, input. The original
dates we were "given" were June 26-July 1 which didn't sit well with most
DVPs due to existing contest schedules as well as the 4th of July Weekend.
The NSRCA pressed the AMA to give us new dates. We were able to get the AMA
to give us the dates above instead of that week which will hopefully be
approved by the AMA Executive Council in October.

All,
We have our NATS dates for 2016. The AMA Nationals for Precision Aerobatics
will be held July 10-15th, 2016 (Sunday is processing day). Although not
"official" until the AMA Executive Council meets in October, we are
confident that we will have these dates.
One thing to point out concerning hotel accomodations: There is a triathlon
that is held in Muncie each year and takes place the week before our NATS.
It is strongly recommended that you book your hotel as soon as possible to
avoid any issues as there are likely to be quite a few folks that are still
there by the time our NATS begins.
If there are any changes, we will let you know as quickly as possible but
these dates are fairly set in stone.

Scott
