Good point

Also, line correction is often needed which is more apparent after the roll and I'd be more apt to give the correct commands looking at the top of the airplane.

Yes the canopy looks better- up close.

Flying at 150 meters plus slant range to aircraft, it isn't highly noticeable which side is presented. Also where is the downgrade?
Typically, as a judge, I'm too busy to notice that there has been an effort to present the fuse top. I'm looking at radii, roll centering, straight lines, quality of stall turns, altitude of tops, altitude of bottoms, etc. I don't pay any attention to which side is presented and wouldn't know what to do with the information if I did notice. There is no downgrade available and I don't how you could add points for it.
However as a pilot, I would want to present the fuse top both times in this maneuver because it makes the stall turns more natural.

Canopy's look better than landing gear's.

Top or bottom is fine in either leg. Roll on downline will be the same direction as the upline for each leg.  You are correct in that you must be inverted through the 1/2 loop and of course upright on exit.

All,

I have a question on the Figure M for Advanced 2016 schedule. In reading the maneuver description the 1/4 rolls can be in either direction. So in the 1st vertical leg the plane top can face you after the 1/4 roll and 2nd vertical leg you could see the bottom of the airplane. Does it matter the combination as long as the center 1/2 loop is inverted? I want to make sure to practice this correctly.

Thanks,

Mike
