Hi Ron:
It takes some additional circuitry to determine when to light the LED to give a go/no go indication based on an acceptable battery voltage / state of charge. It's not that anything would run hot, it's easy enough to build something that performs the function and runs cool, but it's more than a resistor and an LED.

I'm in if you have any thoughts of marketing one.
In mean time, how much fuss is it to come up with a part number
for the resistor & LED? Is resistor gonna get hot?
This raises question of at what voltages will LED be on?
We want it on, in the case pilot runs batts way too low, as
in loaded a used set and got a third of the way thru sequence.
I guess nothing is as simple as it first appears.
In my Bravo, given large canopy, LED will have to mount in front of
firewall, or behind canopy.
I'm still interested in an LED that would confirm installed batts
are above 20v, to prevent installing a lightly or heavily used set.

In its simplest form, It's just a resistor and an LED.

All this rhetoric is making us aware of electrical safety issues in pattern flying. That’s good in itself whether you use an arming device or use a switch on your radio. Redundant systems: arming and radio switch are safer still. They both work when used.
Someone mentioned how can you tell if the plan is energized. Hmm, how about an LED light at the top of the plan just behind the canopy that is lit when the system is energized. Oh my, that’s another worm for the cam.
