Couple of possible options. If the socket is metric, try forcing on the closest larger us size. You might also be able to cut a slot in it with a cutoff wheel and use a large screwdriver to get it out. A photo for all to see might help with ideas.

The socket has been damaged a bit by previous installation and removal, to the point where I can't get an allen wrench to hold tightly. When I try to turn it, the wrench slips. Any suggestions for how to remove the header?
