Before cutting, try this.

Wrap the end of the hex wench in a paper towel or tissue paper and insert it in the socket. Touch a bit of thin CA on the paper. Wait a bit for the CA to harden the paper and then try to loosen. The paper/CA fills the gaps in the socket. Works sometimes, worth a shot.

The socket has been damaged a bit by previous installation and removal, to the point where I can't get an allen wrench to hold tightly. When I try to turn it, the wrench slips. Any suggestions for how to remove the header?
