Would videos of Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced help like I did with FAI and Humberto did with Masters? If so, I can try and get it done in the next week or 2. I'll try and use different planes (like a 50 size for Sportsman and Intermediate) to do them to show it doesn't take a 2M plane to fly pattern.

I am trying to get some of these things together to get on the NSRCA page. We used to have a nice beginner section but it seemed to get lost in one of the updates. Send anything you put together to me and we will try to get it organized. One thing I really one is some video. Could someone record a sequence on one of the sims?

The Power
Point Presentations and Maneuver Descriptions; available on the NSRCA site under
Sequences are excellent aids for someone without a mentor.

In writing
an introduction to pattern I’ve referred the reader to the NSRCA nearly a dozen
times, with no more than a mention of judging.

The NSRCA
has come a long way in 40 years and is to be commended.

Pattern Primer

I suspect one of the most
practical things to show the new fliers to pattern is the box and center the
maneuvers. It was the Nats before that was every pointed out to me by Don Lowe
and I have thanked him in my mind repeatedly every since. With no coach I had
no clue how poorly I was centering my maneuvers until made the obvious
observation that you fly good maneuvers but poorly presented. Instantly my
scores improved. Beginning pilots may not have coaches either so to make that
point to them goes along way to them having a good showing which I feel helps
hook them to want more.

Hello,

We
are planning a Pattern Primer here in D8 and I was looking for any input and
advice from this group. Please let me know things that have worked well in your
districts and any recommendations you can provide. Also, if you have any
material you are willing to share it would be appreciated, fliers, written
tutorials, etc.

We
are planning on holding a one day event with some guided practice and then a
short Sportsman only contest maybe 3 or 4 rounds depending on how many pilots
we can attract,

Thanks!
