I thought I would steal this thread to talk about practice pattern planes. As I expect work commitments will keep me busy this contest season, where 2M practice time will not be as bountiful as it should be, I have been looking for a 3 to 4 cell sized plane to fly out in front of the house that can reasonably fly the Masters pattern. There are not many 3 cell planes out there and I tried a Wingsmaker Sunrise EP. It flies well can could perform the Sportsman and Intermediate, but it is not well suited to fly the Masters pattern. I was at the Toledo show and saw the 5/6 cell powered F3A Olympus by FMS. I have an FMS 1450mm P-51B and it flies great. Talking with a person at the show about the Olympus, he said 5 cells will fly the plane, but not the long up-lines needed for Masters. I don't want to invest in lightweight 6 cell batteries too, and its 1400mm span is a little big for the front yard. The representative told me a 4 cell, 1100mm wingspan version called the F3A Explorer, would be available in about 2 months. It should sell for $159.99 including everything but the main battery and the receiver. I am looking at several options for myself now, but thought people here might be interested in knowing what is out there.

Same thing happened to me. Went as far as the paypal login thinking it might change back to the $138 price at some point but never did. Bailed out as well. jeffFrom: nsrca-discussion-bounces at lists.nsrca.org [mailto:nsrca-discussion-bounces at lists.nsrca.org] On Behalf Of P & A Hobbies

Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] Hobby King Arcus F3A Biplane I’ve been looking at it for a while. Price dropped to $138.65 in Pop up while browsing on US warehouse. So, added it. Click on view cart. shows full $149.31.Shipping charge is $43.62 to Kansas. Customer service told me to try again in about half hour later. Might be a glitch? So far, tried twice. Both same result. One more time and I am done. Ihncheol From: nsrca-discussion-bounces at lists.nsrca.org [mailto:nsrca-discussion-bounces at lists.nsrca.org] On Behalf Of hankpajari at aol.com

Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] Hobby King Arcus F3A Biplane Hi guys I ordered one of these right after the thread started, first week of March. I didn't notice that the shipping was $65 so I cancelled the order. Unfortunately when I ordered I used PayPal and Hobby King was paid. Hobby King acknowledged the cancellation of the order but has not refunded my $183. I have filed a complaint with PayPal and have emailed Hobby King at least 4 times but they ignore me. I am pretty sure I will eventually get my money back but buyer beware. Your mileage may differ. Hank-----Original Message-----

Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] Hobby King Arcus F3A Biplane I just went to order one. Did you actually pay the $76+ shipping on the plane out of China, or did you get it from a different warehouse? I think I’ll wait for it to be available in a US warehouse. - Robert Beaubien- Sr. Software Architect- Kool Software LLC "No trees were harmed in the sending of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced." Subject: Re: [NSRCA-discussion] Hobby King Arcus F3A Biplane I ordered one to play with yesterday. My guess is the servos may need replaced due to poor centering, but it's a pretty cool plane to mess around with after a pattern meet in the evenings.
