I'm running the E-Flite Power-46 with a 4S battery in a 5 lb sport pattern airplane and its plenty. The 32 would probably be a good choice. Check Horizon's website, they list application examples and specifications. Maybe call and talk to them.

Robert,
I don't see any specifications 3648 600kv at kmp website.
If the motor has 36mm diameter & 48mm length and at lrast the length of the motor is close, E-Flite Power 32 may be right choice. If you want more power, power 46 is not bad, but you will need to change the ESC also. Stock ESC is on border for the 32.

If you can tell the size of the prop at & motor dimensions, it will be easier to find a substitute.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Question for Electric Guru's

I have a question for you electric masters. I purchased a new park flyer at the AMA Expo and now that I almost have it together, I am really unhappy with the motor setup. I’m looking at replacing it with a real motor, but really have no idea how determine the right one. This is the plane: http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=281&osCsid=4d214aaee43cca1e5e153afdb13c943c <http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=281&osCsid=4d214aaee43cca1e5e153afdb13c943c> with a 3-bladed prop (no clue as to pitch).
Specs:
Wingspan: 55"
Flying Weight: 1.9 kg, 4.2 lbs
Wing Load: 50g/dm2
4pcs 9 gram servos (included)
Brushless Powered: Powerful 3648 outer runner brushless motor KV600 (included)
45A ESC (included)
3 Bladed Scale prop and Spinner (included)
Battery: 2200Mah, 14.8V.20C (NOT included),
Construction: Super Strong EPO FOAM

Motor that came with it is this: http://rc-castle.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1678 Spinner backplate doesn’t fit right and, of course, I have no clue what the prop is to replace it.
FMS 3648 600Kv Outrunner Motor For 1.4M Warbird

I have 3 – 2200Mah, 14.8v batteries I’d still like to use with it, but if I have to change, then so be it.

The real question I have is what is the right way to pick a motor for a given aircraft? Any suggestions as to a replacement motor?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx,
