0-A-B would be 0-10-11 decimal or 0-12-13 octal, but only if you are treating the hex digits individually, Keith's expression in Hex was 0AB. If he wanted to continue from 789 it should be ABC. 

Ed's request to express in octal breaks down in that pattern because we already had illegal octal digits (8 and 9) from Ken. 

If we assume Ken's response did not   count because he was the original poster, then we have 7 10 11 octal in response to Ed's 456. 

As usual on this list, we analyze everything to exhaustion and arrive at no clear conclusion :-). Well, except I'm right and you're all wrong :-) :-)
