I can't answer about the Jeti, because I never used one.  I was using a Castle 85HV, but was never satisfied with the brake as you can't go over 35% without losing synch when you apply power again.  This has been an issue with their controllers for a long time, and I am not aware that they have done anything about it yet.  I also had one die on me after about 20 flights due to the capacitors getting so hot that the solder holding the capacitor leads to the board reflowed, and the capacitor became disconnected.  All data up to that point was in spec, including ripple which is known to cause problems.  Castle sells additional capacitor packs, but that just adds more weight and complexity.  Castle replaced it no questions asked, and I didn't have any issues after that.  

After talking to several people, I bought an OS 1100HV controller last summer when Tower had them on sale. On sale, and with another coupon code, the price was about the same as a Castle. The brake works great; I started at 60% and had to back down to 50% as it was too effective.  It is very smooth starting up and under brake, and is easy to program with a little hand held programmer that has an LCD display, no computer required. There are fewer parameters that you can program, but I have found no need for them.  While Castle has a hand held programmer, you really need a computer to set it up properly.  All told the OS controller is about 1/2 oz heavier than the Castle, and that includes the fact that it has three large ripple capacitors rather than two.  As long as you have it in an area with any sort of air movement, it never gets more than luke warm.  It also has a spark suppressor built in, so you don't get the snap when you connect your batteries, and the connectors don't get eroded from the spark like the Castles.  I will be using OS controllers for the foreseeable future.  I bought a second one after trying the first when they were still on sale.  Several of us in my area who were running Castles are switching over.

I know Jason Shulman was using older Jeti controllers for a long time because he had never found anything he liked better.  He didn't like the newer Jetis as well as the old one, and he was hoarding the older ones, but he was running out.  He is now running the Futaba/OS controller (same thing, just labeled differently for different markets), and I believe he is very happy with it.  He posted some things on RCU about it some time back.

I am trying to figure out the best ESC to use for my new project.  I have been a Castle guy since my introduction several years ago to electric.  I believe at this point, my best choice is the Jeti Spin 99 Pro mainly due to weight at 100g vs. the other 100A ESCs out there.  I looked at the OS1100 and of course the Castle ESC but they are heavier. I have been told good things about the Jeti and the smoothness as well as the braking.  Really, I have two questions: 1. Is there a lighter 100A+ ESC that is of good quality?  2.  How do these get programmed?  It appears there is a little programmer called the Jeti Spin Mini Programmer but can you also use some sort of PC program to program these like the Castle?
