Ron, I had similar struggles before implants....and decided to get
single-vision distance prescription Serengeti Drivers (non-Gradient).  They
were about $400 give or take, but made it well worth it.  At that time my
"normal" glasses were progressive no-line bifocals, and the in-between
distance just didn't work for me with pattern.  The distance Rx did, though.
