Ouch!
I like a challenge and will make a friendly wager with ANY one that would like
to bet that there won't be a Cleveland contest in 2013!
No wait.... Promises promises.
I know it sounds like another excuse but it was a long shot from the word go. To
go from an idea the second week in April to a contest the second or third
weekend in May would have been a tall order, specially for a first time CD,
first time DVP, not having spoken to the host club. Even then I thought I could
pull it off, but I tend to be over confident that way!
Bob Kane, get some practice!!!!!!

If the long-awaited Cleveland contest ever does materialize, you should call it
“The Phantom Memorial” or maybe “The Promises, Promises Classic” … :>)

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] D4 Cleveland Contest update
During the Toledo show I committed myself to trying to put together a contest in
the Cleveland Ohio area. The thought was to put together an event that would
serve as the first D4 contest of the year as we don't have any in May.
The preferred dates were the weekend of May 19th. I spoke with the club
president and unfortunately there was already a club event scheduled for that
weekend. The only dates available were the following weekend May 26th and
27th. The combination of that bieng Memorial Day weekend and the very short
planning/turn around time convinced me to give it a pass this year. There were
other considerations that persuaded me to forego it (club flying can not start
before noon on Sundays, it's possible to get a pass on that for a weekend but
probably not in time for the event.). As such, there will be NO Cleveland
contest this year, but I am already planning the first Cleveland Ohio contest in
over 15 years for late May 2013 (unless the kookie Mayans are correct of
course).
I would still be thrilled to host a one day group practice session/pattern
primer/get together for the weekend of the 26th if anyone is interested. I can
print some score sheets and make sure there are at LEAST two people behind you
criticizing you as you fly.
Let me know what the level of interest is and I will start working out the
details.
Thank you
Anthony

You are still only reading the regulator output from one of the lipos and both
outputs would have to be the same.
Ed is saying the single regulator dual outputs are not independent as they would
be if you used two tech-aero or jaccio regulators.
Sounds like a good system to have on a smaller cheaper aircraft than our 2 meter
pattern planes. Gives you redundant batteries but not redundant power systems.
You are now reliant on a single point of failure 14 dollar regulator.

Hmmmm. I wonder why I measure different voltages when I switch on the two 2S
lipo batteries at different times. If it had a single regulator, I would think
the output voltage would be the same, no matter which battery was chosen.

It’s actually a dual output single regulator that can switch between two power
sources. It provides two leads from the same internal source, so only the
battery side of things has any redundancy.

Ron - It is a dual regulator/switch which allows you to hook up two lipo
batteries and have them separately regulated to 5.9 volts and use one or both of
the outputs. Look here:

I sell them for under $20.

Hey Ron, rusty and old, but I'm going to give it another try. Emory Schroeter
told me about a dual regulator for the receiver pack that you are selling,
what's the scoop?

Hey Ron: Buy it and our old fingers can duke it out again. I look forward to

I'm looking for a used pattern plane. It's been about 10 years since my last
contest, and I want to give these old fingers another chance. I'm looking for
a fixed gear 2m design, and plan to do an electric setup. I can convert a
methanol burner if necessary. I live in Nashville,tn., avoiding shipping would
be good. Please reply off line to: ronclark at tds.net
