[NSRCA-discussion] NSRCA-discussion Digest, Vol 76, Issue 2 Deans Shorting Plug housing

RadicalRC.com makes a neat and compact Deans plug mounting box and plate for $3.50 that I've used very efficiently....As Ron suggests short the male plug and cover with heat shrink. I tie a piece of dental floss between it and the fuse to keep it from getting lost.
Search "Shorting Plug" for the web page in RadicalRC. I use this for the Osiris size ships......

I have aged out of Precision aerobatics and I am just starting to gather
things up that are not likely to see further use. I will still be flying
electrics for a while (I hope), but fuel takes more energy and agility
than I can muster. I have 4 YS140-FZ's That have been out of service
for at least 3 or 4 years. I have never taken one to over 500 flights. I
also have a couple of YS-91's. Is there any interest here for any or all
of these engines. Most flyers from my time would prefer to rebuild their
own rather than buy a rebuild from an unknown source.

If not, I will plan to check them out when warm weather comes and offer
them online.

There are other vintage parts but this is where I plan to start.

I don't tune in often any more and I cannot remember when the last time
was that I actually worked at the Nat's BUT:
When electric was still a novelty Marty Matthews wife was carrying in
his plane and he turned off the transmitter. It was a non-event because
she was on the ball and had a good grip on the plane when it went to
full throttle. I commented at the time "We need to fix that before some
one gets hurt bad".

I have always felt all that would be necessary would be to require that
the pilot be prepared to demonstrate that turning off the transmitter
resulted in a motor shut down. At the Nat's the line chief could check
it as frequent as he felt it possible without impacting the general
operation.

I am not aware of any ESC failures that result in running failures. My
ESC's usual fail mode results in smoke & fire.
