Ouch, that sucks.  I assume that everyone is all right.  I'd be curious
to find out how much insurance ends up covering your plane equipment.

As far as scales, I use two different ones.  

 

1.       For weighing balsa to determine the lightest ones.  This one
does up to 500g with .1g precision:

2.       For weighing plane and other things.  I have 3 of these.  Up to
