[NSRCA-discussion] NSRCA-discussion Digest, Vol 65, Issue 19

I remember reading that ASP engines as they were known in Europe were the same product as Magnum engines in the US, just differently branded. I've owned both, but never thought it worth my while to make a direct comparison.

I don't have any info about the previous post, but I've had several ASP engines a few years ago. I still have an ASP 108 that runs as well as ever after probably 20 years. Not flown a lot in any year but it's on the plane I use for testing repaired radio gear before I fly in an expensive plane. My experience was to be sure to use the supplied head shim on the 108 or they would not run with 15%-20% fuel I usually use. Probably be OK with 5% or less without the shim.

I thought I had saved a copy of a post within the last few weeks, that discussed their experience with the Asp 91. Does anyone remember it, and can point me at the date/who sent it?
Thanks

Jerry,
My ASP engines all came from Indy RC. I think Indy RC has been out of
business a few years now. I don't know if ASP,s are still available any
more.

HAH!! Dave, I used to live about 40 min. west of Indy R/C, knew Jim
Goad slightly, and bought a LOT of stuff from him. I still have a
Coyote pattern plane that he designed in the '70's. I understand
Horizon bought out Indy R/C primarily go get the rights to import a line
of gasser engines (forgot the brand).

Phil,
I believe it was Zenoah engines. That buyout left Horizon with too many brands of glow engines. At one point they had ASP, TSI, GMS, Webra, MDS, and Saito - and that's just what I remember off the top of my head.

I understand that Magnum engines bare a close family resembelance to ASP
engines.
