Thanks, Tony. I knew I was working with old numbers, but I had no idea in the world that AMA had added enough territory to nearly double what they had. Also, I realize that membership numbers are very fluid. Even though they are down from peak, I'm glad they are up from my old number.

I would guess that your numbers are very old. In 2002 (think that is correct) AMA membership peaked at around 172,000 members. Has been dropping ever since. I don't know about the acreage, but I believe AMA did purchase some land around the same time at the south end of the facility to keep anyone from moving in on our flying area.

Just kind of curious: After reading the AMA letter about Mr. Cherry's resignation, it mentioned the membership number and and the acreage at Muncie--at least I guess it was at the Muncie flying site.
When did 680 (+/-) acres (or just over one section of land) turn into 1100 acres? Or an organization of ~60,000 members turn into 142,000 members?
The above are the last numbers I had; are they that out of date?
Again: Just curiious.

I'm not sure we can assume he was fired.
I had a chance to meet him at the Red Bull Air Races in New York recently. In talking with him, it was apparent that he was doing his best to get the AMA budget balanced, and he sounded frustrated that the board wanted to spend more money than they had coming in. Could just be that he was frustrated enough to leave, or maybe he had a better offer somewhere else.

Since we are OFF TOPIC, I just saw that Cherry fired Kaluf and then Cherry himself was fired.
Cherry is no longer the ED of AMA, but where did you get that he was fired? Steve left the AMA over 3 years ago as well, so that is hardly breaking news either!!
