[NSRCA-discussion] 2.4G Required at next Nats??

At this year's Nats, competitors on 72 were at a disadvantage on the
practice days before the Nats as it took a long time to get the pins to
the three sites. 2.4 people just went ahead and flew. My observation
was that 72 mHz users were in the minority this year.

Actually, with 2.4 modules and receivers available for $110 for the
pair (Spektrum for JR and Futaba), the cost is a drop in the bucket
compared to going to the Nats for a week.

A rule like that seems that it should be approved
and published by Jan 1 of the year it goes into effect.  Causing
competitors to purchase expensive equipment without a lot of runway is
bad.  Especially for those that are in the middle of spending $$$ to
build
their plane for next year.

There was a comment in MA by Ron Morgan (Nats Manager)
that AMA is working toward DSS only for the Nats in the future.
Nothing said
  specifically about 2010.

OTOH, after 30 or so years on 6 meters, I'm converting
to DSS so as to avoid the TX impound.

I heard someone state that starting in 2010 all
pilots must fly 2.4G at the Nats.  I searched the discussion
archives
and the AMA website and came up empty.

Is there any truth to this?
