[NSRCA-discussion] NSRCA numbers, approval, confirmation on nsrca.us

Behind the scenes, the webteam is moving toward
the day when we will have only one database and
only one website.

At present, we're straddling nsrca.us and nsrca.org.
People need two sets of credentials for different
purposes.

As part of the process, I've indentified those records
that are the same between the two databases and
transferred extra information--most especially,
your NSRCA number and K-Factor status (paid up?
receiving K-Factor via mail?).

I found about 60 registrants on nsrca.us who probably
didn't receive the e-mail asking them to confirm
their e-mail address. This is a problem with spam
filters, I think. When we consolidate on one
server (nsrca.us), this problem may be diminished
but I doubt that it will ever disappear completely.
That's life in our spam-filled world. :o(

I've approved and confirmed all of those registrations
by hand. It should now be possible for those people
to log in at http://nsrca.us and participate in the
page-based forums:

http://nsrca.us/Forum/

Would those of you who are registered (or think you
are registered) on nsrca.us please check your record
to see whether it has the right NSRCA number?

Until we close the old system, you still visit this
page, log in with your nsrca.org credentials
(NSRCA number and the password you or the Secretary
chose for you), and find the link for updating
your address. AFTER we close the old system,
you will update your address by logging in to
nsrca.us and going to "Your profile":

http://www.nsrca.us/your-profile.html

When we make the final transfer from the old
system to the new, we will assume that the address
and contact information in the OLD database is
accurate (because people who are receiving the
K-Factor via mail are PROBABLY motivated to
keep that record up to date).

AFTER we have closed the old database and consolidated
the records, we will e-mail each person a copy of the
information we have at that time. That will give
you another chance to log in and update your profile
so that the information is up to date.

Thanks for your patience with this awkward situation.
I hope that the benefits of making the move will be
evident to you when you see the new K-Factor
interface and the NSRCA store. We also intend to
provide the option to register, pay online, and
very shortly afterward have access to the current
K-Factor without having to wait for a human being
to set up your username and password for you.
