[NSRCA-discussion] Honda generator question

The 2000-I can handle quite a bit of 120v household stuff. I installed a disconnect panel so that I can plug the generator in and switch circuits between the gen & line easily. The panel has Watt meters to show how much power is being used from the gen, good info to keep from an overload. The 2000 handles the fridge, a couple of ceiling fans, TV, PC and some lights (about 1K). Switching some of this off allows use of a microwave or garage door opener. And the thing will run (quietly) for 8+ hrs on a gallon or so of gas. Of course it handles RC stuff also, often 2 Iota 55's & 4 chargers as well as TX chargers.
As has been noted, the 1000 is lighter but not nearly as versatile.

I am also looking at the 2000I. It weighs a bit more but would be a good back up system for the house if I have to run the fridge and a couple of lights in the event of a blackout.

Good one Andrew. I think your Dad told me that a non invertor type generator would probably work the Iota which would then work as a filter but after frying a TP 1010 with my cheapy so called generator from Ebay I didn't want to risk it again and got the good unit. Mike
