I ran that muffler for quite a while and have to admit that I like better than a pipe. I did run the full length Mac header and at that length with a 15X11 4B prop was able to get a very smooth and constant speed with great breaking but sacrificed top end power a bit. You can almost run the needle valve anywhere with that set-up as it extremely forgiving.
It is a muffler so theoretically reducing the header length shouldnt make much difference...but mine did run very well at full length.

I am installing a OS140RX engine and OS Header, and a Bolly MF 480 R pipe into a new (Impact) airframe. From the “Bolly Book” this appears to be more of a muffler than a tuned pipe. This model is not in the “book”.
Is anyone running this configuration?
Space is a little tight and I was thinking of cutting off some of the header but have no idea of the implications of this move. Evidently Bolly no longer produces CF pipes and I can find no specific information on this setup.
