You could do that too, using something like 26AWG for the signal leads. The servos we use in the tail don't draw all that much, so 22AWG shared on the power should do fine. Test it though.

I've often thought about going with common + and - wires with an upgraded wire size. Then go tiny with the signal wires. There is no reason to go with a large gauge on the signal wires.
