I would agree but take note that the Shims for the 1.70 are different in thinkness than the other Ys engines.

This is beyond my experience; I had heard that the 1.70 vibrated much less than the 1.40 L. Maybe I heard something that's not true? But, if my experience means anything, I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. I can't guarantee the same great results that I got with the 1.40 L, however, it's an easy modification that can be put back again if no gains are realized. IMHO.

My son has a DZ170 on Hyde mount that is also a beast on idle. Wonder if a shim might help it?

Many thanks to Jerry Stebbins for his suggestion to cure the extreme vibration of my Y.S. 1.40 L. Richard Verano of Y.S. services was kind enough to send me a head shim for the engine. The shim was only .0085" thick, but it did the trick. The engine is now markedly smoother at all rpm ranges, and idles much more smoothly, The transition to high speed is immediate, with no hesitation or burping. And, it only cost me 200 rpm at top speed, (WOT.)

Should I choose to, or need to, obtain the extra rpm's, I can do so with 30% heli fuel. I can't believe it's the same engine. It's gone from being an expensive paperweight, to a viable powerplant.

Many thanks to all who replied; this list is such a great source of help!
