Larry,
 
        Replacing the main bearing is  so easy you might as well do it.  If 
it's a used plane that you have no  history with, the bearing could be the 
cause.  It is the only maintenance  necessary on this motor.  If the pump 
still has the paint seal on it,  don't screw with it.
