[NSRCA-discussion] Alphabet soup

Oops sorry Matt. I forgot you weren't a Futaba guy. Here's a simple explanation:
The 9Z was never offered on 2.4, just 72 and 50. The 9C was available on all of these plus 75. These were both discontinued recently and replaced by the 14Mz, 12Z, 12Fg and now the 10C. These are all available on 2.4, 72, 50 and I believe 75 as well. While only the high end systems (not the 10C) have G3 2048-bit PCM as an option, all of the latest offerings also support 1024-bit PCM and 2048-bit FASST 2.4 formats as well as standard 8-channel PPM (analog) encoding. While you can't have G3 2048-bit PCM encoding on the older (9C and 9Z) it is possible to upgrade them to 2.4. Simple. I just wasn't sure about the module compatibility. THAT's the confusing part! LOL

********Also - does the 10C have flight conditions (like the 9Z, 12Z, 12Fg, 14Mz) or is it like the 9C?**********
Jeez, the only one I know was the 170 ABC from Mintor. All else has been ringed. Gotta love the alphabet soup. Heh, heh!!

Bob,
Could you be more specific re- the 72MHz module in a 10C? The 9Z synth. module is configured through the Tx NOT rotary switches (like the 9C). How do you set the Tx frequency on a 10C 72MHz setup? Can you use the 9Z synth. module or do you need to use a 9C / 8U type instead?
Also - does the 10C have flight conditions (like the 9Z, 12Z, 12Fg, 14Mz) or is it like the 9C?

Ron,
If I were you, I would get the 8 channel module for both of them. The 7 channel module only works with the 7 channel receivers, or the new 616 micro receiver. The 8 will work with those, as well as the 8 channel and 14 channel receivers. The 8 channel module only cost $10 more.
If you really want a 7ch module, I will sell you mine at a discount. :-)
I have the 10c and like the way it programs. It has less features than the 9Z, but is very easy to learn, even for us old farts. It will work with ANY Fasst receiver as well, and will work with the 72mhz modules from you 9Z.

I have two of these 9ZAP transmitters and am planning to switch them
to 2.4 GHz by using the FASST 7-channel transmitter module in one and
the 8-channel transmitter module in the other. That way all my
airplanes' data is available immediately and I don't have to learn
how to program the new 10C I have had for two months. Lazy? Yes.
