Hi guys,
Once upon a time, on a campus far, far away, I was schooled in the ways
of Aerospace Engineering. My class was the last to use a drafting table
- so I know about layout and lofting, line thickness and velum, but
missed the CAD revolution by "that much".
So I'm thinking that designing a profile would be a fun way to teach
myself a little CAD. If you're using software to help design R/C
aircraft, what are your favorite applications?
So far I'm using:
XFoil for airfoil analysis
http://web.mit.edu/drela/Public/web/xfoil/
QCad for 2D CAD
http://www.qcad.org/qcad.html
pstoedit for converting ps, pdf and graphics to vector format
http://www.pstoedit.net/pstoedit
Now I'm looking for something to automate the rib layouts -
something more automated than simple airfoil plotting. I've downloaded
these two, but haven't tried them yet:
Profili
http://www.profili2.com/eng/default.htm
Winfoil
http://www.winfoil.com/
So, what are you using?
Thanks!
Tom
