Jeff,
If you've got balancing taps, use them. I'd recommend charging outside the 
plane. If things go bad, you'll have a much better chance of getting the 
problem out of your garage than if it's installed in a plane.The best 
charging setups are those where the balancer communicates with the charger 
and shuts things down if the cells are too far out of balance.
