Chad,

Yeah, I saw the EagleTree stuff at Toledo a year ago. A friend in Ottawa bought some of their stuff to use on a glider, but I can certainly understand the issue with reception on the pattern plane. Interesting to hear the acceleration - perhaps pattern drag racing can be a new pattern spin-off ;)

Tim

Eagle tree does this same thing with their micro logger. I have played with it a bit and its pretty amazing....you can see how straight you roll down the runway LOL :)

Problem is with the wildly varying attitudes in pattern I routinely loose the satellite link, so I think I will end up needing two sensors mounted top and bottom of the fuse to make it work properly.

I think once its all setup it will be a useful tool for evaluating geometry on things like a rolling circle which is not easy to see from a pilots perspective.

The airspeed is rather revealing, the acceleration of these planes is remarkable, easily rocketing to 190 kph in only a few seconds. Should take it to the drag strip LOL :)

Chad
