I just can't get over this sad news.

I first met Kirk back when we were both flying in the Sportsman class ('89 or '90). He was a quiet person, but very friendly and always helpful. We would sometimes get together to practice and give pointers to each other (I think I benefited the most from that). I can say without reservation that I would never have achieved the level of proficiency that I did had it not been for him, not only for the help that he gave me, but also because he always raised the bar that I had to aim for. And I think most people that knew him would also say that the level of competition in D2 increased because of his presence.

I had always hoped that he would get things straight in his life and make it back into the thick of competition. He will sorely be missed. My prayers are with his family.
