I use a dremel.  Before sheeting the wing use a guide for the router base and rout a 1/8 inch grove in the bottom of the wing as a channel for a round sander with a 1/8" straight router bit.  Change to a 1/2" sanding drum and rout the channel for the lead.  You can't miss.  Make sure you do this on the bottom of the wing because on one wing I was able to see the 1/8" channel.

  I used the brass tube on a 35%, just made a simple fixture to guide the tubing. Made a 2x4 into a V-block and rested everything on a flat table, takes some of the luck out of it. Hit the outboard servo pocket using this.

  Saw a guy  just bend some copper wire into a ring with two long ends that he stuck into a trigger operated soldering iron and just melted his way through. Not as pretty as the brass, and still there was that luck thing involved. 

  I was thinking you might try the Clint Eastwood method, 44 Magnum pointed at the servo opening and say "Do You Feel Lucky?" ....probably not accurate at all but it might be fun.

    Looking for something easier and more accurate. The tubing has worked okay
    in the past but I always felt kinda lucky about it.

    Why the need to change? Been doing them with a brass tube for 15-20 years
    without a hitch.

    Vern, I cut a 1/2" w by 3/8"d trough in the top of the wing but stop about
    2" from the wing root. I then angle a hole from the middle of the airfoil to
    the trough.

    I'm looking for alternate ways to bore the aileron lead hole in a foam wing
    core. In the past, I've done it with 1/2" sharpened brass tubing. Anybody
    got a better way?
