You just rotate the cursor to the top right of the D/R screen where it
says curve type and you can choose which one you want. At first with
this radio I didn't think it had the extra curves but they are there.
Just like the 10X.

Glad you got it covered. I just played with it some and its a really
cool setup. You can choose up to 5 different snap roll setups in this
program and it looks like you can activate it with multiple stick
positions. Like Elevator and AIL both at full deflection or near full
then it activates the snap "button program" not only that it can be tied
to Flight modes so you could have a default flight mode be snap roll not
active. Like I said I don't use it but I'm curious how flexible it is.
>From the looks of things you could do the snaps, motions on your sticks
and then have the actual end points tweaked to give you the best snap
once the sticks reach a certain point. Meaning it doesn't act like a
button but you pull the sticks the corners and when they are all in
their "corner" then the rates for each snap are controlled by the snap
roll program...so its not really a button on off program....instead its
a when you move to 90% right aileron, 90% right rudder and 90% up
elevator all at the same time your rates change to the values setup in
the Snap roll program. Not only that but you could make just one or two
sticks be the activation not all three. I need to play with this
more...not that I would use it but its kind of cool and it might be a
way for a guy to have his snap condition without ever flipping a
switch...Just when he puts the sticks in the right spot the rates got to
the new values.
On your other question regarding balance. Balance is really designed
around more than one servo on the same control surface. Like two
ailerons servos per aileron. The balance menu allows for a 7pt curve on
one of the servos to match it up to the other on the surface. Yes you
could use it with separate aileron servos on separate surfaces but that
is not its intent. Use you subtrim-and end points to match them up. If
you find a problem where at partial travels the ailerons are not
matching up....and you can't fix it in geometry for what ever reason the
Balance function can help you.
Now where it does work well is if you have dual elevator servos on
separate surfaces. This allows the second elevator servo to have a 7pt
curve to match up its travel precise with the other side. This way
through the entire elevator stick travel the servos can be matched up
using the curve points.
If you MATE up an additional elevator servo you will get the Elev
Balance in the menu. Same would go for Flaps or rudders. Its acts like a
match box....but a matchbox does middle and each end so it has a 3 point
curve. The Balance menu gives the user an addition 4pts to the curve two
on each side of center to match things up. IT could be considered a
"SUPER" matchbox built right into the TX. Another way to look at it is a
Curve mix in the program mix menu...you have all the points of the curve
yet its built in and you don't need to use a curve mix.

Reading about this function can I assume it could also be used as a
"VTR" that's in the 10sx. I prefer never to flip rates and purposely
dial all my rates to the same so the switch position doesn't matter but
really need more elev than I care to fly with for spins/snaps.

Not sure what you are trying to do here.
Are you wanting Full Up elevator to move the ailerons and rudder
to the
snap deflections?
Or are you wanting your snap condition meaning different rates
for
aileron elevator and rudder to be active when you are at full up
elevator? This requires you to still move the sticks but allows
the rate
to change only when the elevator stick is moved pasta certain
point.
I have a good bit of experience with the 12X and I can help you
do
either one.
Stick position switches are nothing more than another switch to
choose.
You can create mixing programs that activate from the stick
position
switch. You can also create symmetry in the stick switch so the
switch
can activate as X% of up elevator and the same percentage of
down
elevator also. Or you create two different stick switches one
for the up
elevator side and one for the down elevator side. If you want
the switch
to "flip values" at a different point in the sticks travel. The
Snap
Roll program in the 12X appears to have a whole new set of stick
position switches but I have not played with them yet to see how
they
work.
I don't use the snap roll programs and actually have never used
the one
in the 12X. I just now looked at the menu for the first time
ever in my
TX.
I can go setup a model and play with it...probably only take a
few
minutes to set it up to work the way you want.
But if you tell me what you want to do I'll try to figure it
out.

Hello all out there in pattern land. I just got a new JR 12X
2.4 and
have been playing with it a little in anticipation of converting
my
planes from the 9303 to the new 12X.
One function that is new to me with the 12X is what they call
"stick
position switch" which sounds like what I hear the Futaba guys
calling
"flight conditions". I was thinking of setting up a flight mode
for
snaps that would allow me to trigger a positive snap with up
elevator
movement and an negative snap with down elevator movement......I
think
that this would be two different flight modes - but I can't get
the
"switch position" function to work.
I'm hoping that Troy or some of the other JR guru's out there
with more
experience than I have, can walk me through it. I've set up the
switch
positions in the System menu and I've activated the Snap Roll
function
in the Function menu bur the elevator doesn't seem to Kick the
rudder/aileron as I thought I had programmed ....so clearly I've
missed
something.
