[NSRCA-discussion] "Soft" brake on park flyer pattern - Yes/No

Crappy weather here in Canada so I'm flying my mini-Inspire a bit more. It's got zero downline braking making a couple of the sequences impossible (figure 9 with 2/2 on downline). 
   
  Is anyone flying these? Does a speed controller with a soft brake help?
