This foam that I am using is Dow "Great Stuff". Granted, it can expand a lot
if you don't watch it and apply a small amount at a time if necessary, but
it is light weight and very easy to trim with a knife.

I have had similar experiences with construction foam. Difficult to control
and heavy. What has worked was splicing in pieces of the shucks with
urethane glue and then repair the sheeting.

I had moderate success with that method. It is an art form by itself! Too
much foam and it makes a real mess of things. I had problems with the foam
expanding into the core under the remaining balsa and causing a slight
bulge.

Maybe I'm crazy, but has anyone tried repairing foam cores with expandable
foam, the kind used for insulation? I tried some "Great Stuff" from Lowes
and it seems to do a very good job.
