[NSRCA-discussion] Rule 8.1.1

They did have roving Nats years ago and it did cost more in man power and dollars to host roving events. Or at least that was what was claimed in print for those proposing having a central flying site. The logistics and finding enough workers to host a roving Nats is a monumental task.

  Jay,

I dont' know about the XFC, but the DLM was never a roving event, it was always at Pat Hartness' site in SC.

I can agree with you to some extent if we are talking about having ALL major events at the same location.

I have always thought that the Muncie purchase was a good idea. I have to believe there is a large cost associated with a roving NATS. I would like to see numbers on that. Maybe a NATS held at either an east coast or west coast location every three years.

It is easy for people to say "it would be great if the NATS were held in my home town", but until someone steps up to the plate (either individuals or clubs) and are willing to do what it takes to organize a roving event, it would be very difficult IMHO to justify it.

Don't blame Gordon, Tony. It was me, Jay, that made the statement. I'm one in favor of roving events in order to draw more interest and participation.

    Gordon:
The XFC CAME to the AMA asking us to please host it at Muncie. The Don Lowe Masters CAME to AMA asking us to host it at Muncie. Your beef should be with the XFC and the Don Lowe Masters group, NOT AMA!
