    I may try to fly at the NATS next year....  If I do, my goal will be to come home with my plane still flyable.  Anything more than that will be a bonus.

      I'm glad this has turned to a NATS discussion and away from the original.  This year will be my first NATS...my goal is to not embarrass myself, that's it, no sense setting the goal too high.  I've flown in a bunch of local contests, the intense nervous thing isn't a problem any longer, however, I am fully aware that my first time stepping in front of the judges at the NATS is going to be a real issue.  My goal for my first NATS is to have fun, meet a ton of people that I've only talked to online or read about, and come away having learned a few things.  Those goals are completely achievable, and those goals I will achieve.

            Sure, its nice for the spectators to be able to go from site to site and see many different aspects of aeromodeling all in one day.  But if you are actually competing in an event such as Pattern... you aren't going to be doing much spectating until you are done flying.

              Thanks, Tony, I was not aware of that.

              Part of the allure of attending the NATS as a competitor is (was) being able to observe the other modeling disciplines, such as pylon or CL combat. I guess it is nice in one way to have the whole site for pattern, but not having other events going on simultaneously is a bit of a bummer. It makes it less of a spectator draw.

That could change, by allowing some Control Line events, but the problem we have with aerobatics is that many times we over-fly the control line circles from the "Stage Center" site…  That would be a safety issue that we would have to somehow address….

                Actually, the NSRCA share might be less than what you say. Don't they hold multiple events simultaneously? I have not been to Muncie yet, but both times I was at Lawrenceville that was the case.
