My first NATS experience was the last year that they had the BIG TOP with
all events going on at the same time. Looking back, I am glad that I had the
opportunity to attend that year as going forward the Pattern NATS always
seemed a bit barren to me, not much going on. I will never forget watching a
Pylon racer practice at one of the practice fields, going by hotel rooms
filled with competitors working on helicopters, contol line planes, kids
dusted after a long hot day in the sun competing. Something was always going
on. I had never seen FAI Pylon, speed, and have not since. It was one of the
most memorable NATS that I ever attendid, other then the time I won..lol.
