The Focus gear is made of molded stringy fiberglass.I broke mine several years ago and had to fix at the field(contest). I made the stringy break... jam back together and soaked it with thin CA.The CA was absorbed into the fiberglass and the gear was fixed.I used the gear for a long time after that. If yours is just a crack you could do the same thing. Open the crack if you can and soak in CA. The reason the gear is 2 pieces is the way it mounts into the fuse.If it was one piece I think it would tear up more fuse in a hard landing.

Subject: [NSRCA-discussion] Focus II Landing Gear crack

  Hello all,

The left side of my Focus II landing gear has cracked and I thinking of getting replacement gear. The Focus gear are in two parts; a left half and a right half. The particular gear I have is a white color; not sure just what it is made of. I see on the Piedmont web site that there is a black colored gear which might be carbon fiber? I am wondering if others have noted cracking in their Focus landing gear and what is being done about replacement? It seems to me a single gear would be better than a two halves gear. What is the membership experience?
