Dean:
Did you see that promotional video of the Saphion where they fired off multiple rounds into a backback radio battery pack? Pretty neat, eh?

  Hi All,
FMA has just released a version of their CellPro charger intended for the A123s, as well.

Similar to the A123s, there is a series of intrinsically safe LiIons called the Saphion by an outfit called Valence (valence.com)
The energy density is similar, but the power density and charge rates are not.

The Thunderpower charger has a firmware update to charge the A123 batteries, just download off the internet and use cable to load to charger.
No I'm not sponsored and I aint selling anything just info.

      Kelly,

Yeah, I have heard and read about these in some of the RC magazines. Slightly less voltage than a lipo cell, slightly less energy density (IIRC) but much faster charge/discharge times, many more expected cycles, and supposedly safer. Standard lipo/lion chargers won't work wtih them, however.

I also saw where A123 will be working with GM on the all-electric plug-in car that GM recently announced they were developing.
