[NSRCA-discussion] servo support

I'm with you on this.... I always thought that the support should be based solidly, either from the servo case, or the servo mount.... there are
several ways it could be done... the only part that is hard to come by in building something, is the servo horn screw... In the past, I've used the
appropriate size bolt with a ball from a ball joint on it. I do like the idea of the bearing much better....

Sorry, but I have to question this. I don't see how this can work well. It is very pretty and has all the right materials (ball bearings, carbon fiber), but from a geometric point of view it raises many questions. The carbon base is cantilevered to the aluminum standoffs and the mounting screw line is normal to the load, doing nothing to support the load. The standoffs put pressure on the CF base ina point load, something CF is poor at withstanding. THe geometric stability is provided only by the aluminum standoff diameter, which is minimal.

The old JR ones worked, but barely. The base was a full metal frame, which improved the standoff cantilever problem. As long as the metal frames were straight and the aluminum standoffs were tightly screwed in and any bending was prevented (once bent they never worked right again).

Granted, these can be installed but whether or not they relieve the stress on the servo is a totally different matter. A design that I would believe in would increase the base of the standoffs. One way would be to use the MK fluted control arms. Another would be to make a triangular standoff with the base wide at the bottom and lined up with the servo stress.

Boy, that looks even more positive than the JR type that I've been using for years. Good stuff Rex !

Here's two more, of a different variety.... one for Futaba, one for JR servos.

These are a little different, but they have lots of neat parts on them... If the standard JR support has changed and did away with the
metal frame, these might be better for our use....

Does anyone know anyone other than Horizon that might carry the KS servo support. Horizon is out of them – Jerry green
