[NSRCA-discussion] NSRCA Dues Increase

Local contests really have no NSRCA connection. Many are operated at a loss
to the hosts. Discounting entries by $5 would further discourage clubs from
hosting contests.

Schedules: I would prefer to see the Sportsman, Intermediate and Advanced
class schedules change EVERY SEASON. I flew the Advanced schedule for five
years with little if any improvement after the second season. By the sixth
year I felt it was either a matter of stand down or quit altogether. I did
not fly any contests in 2006!

I agree that catering to the upper classes is risky business. It has got to
the point where Masters/FAI contestants are half the total contestants. As
such, their wants and needs have become the objectives. However, if you look
at who does the grunt work and puts on the local contests you will see it is
not that group. In fact, many of the top Nats contenders do not attend (read
that "support") the local contests.

The stated objectives of the NSRCA have been to provide a structure to build
the strongest possible contestants with the lower classes. The result has
been that has led to a "weeding out" effect by pushing us less
talented/committed flyers aside. The unintended consequence seems to have
taken its toll on our numbers. Most successful enterprises are market
driven. To grow an organization you must target the PERCEIVED needs of your
clients.

The officers who are standing down have served well. I have nothing but
praise for them.
The officers who are coming to office are facing big challenges. They need
and deserve our support!

BTW, My dues are paid and it remains to be decided if I am just working this
year or if I am flying as well. Winning is not among my expectations...
