Have you guys tried the Futaba 3110 (now 3114) servos. Quick, strong and
good centering. Compared to my HS55s, they seemed much better. About the same
price too...... 7.8g and will take 4.8 or 6V

Dave, you made me go back and look. The problem servos were “Spektrum” S75,
not S60. Two of the original 4 failed almost immediately. My apologies for
misleading everyone. Regardless, I still like HiTec for these small
applications.

Jay,
50% infant failure rate for what?? S75, S60? Your numbers are based on
what?

Seems like manufacturing variability goes across both models. Nice to know
that you have had no problems with the 60s, but with a 50% infant failure rate
you won’t find any more on my workbench.

…a moment please…..
The S75 is known to have gear train slop and centering issues….I’ve seen it
first hand, and I also have a few that work fine….seems to be quite a bit of
 variability.
The S60 is NOT the same servo and NOT of the same quality based on the 10 I
have used and flown in the past months – geartrains are much tighter,
centering and resolution is as good as any 6 gram servo I’ve used (which is to say I’
ve not seen anything in the 6 gram range that will match the 9 gram digital
281 or 285).
And yes, I get a price break on Eflite stuff……all my “bad” S75s I sent
back for replacement (Horizon is very good about warranties/repairs), and all my
S60s have been solid thus far.
Regards,

Oops, I should have realized that. Same servo - you're right, it's junk.
For some reason I forgot about the model number of those.

Thanks

Ed

I used the S75 on my Brio. These come with the Spektrum DX6. Pure junk. Had
to be replaced almost immediately.

Does anyone have feedback on the E-flite S60? I'm thinking of using a pair
of these on an E-flite Brio for elevators. The specs look OK, but do they
track & center well?

Thanks
