[NSRCA-discussion] Soft Mounts (Beam)

I got tired of fooling with the rubber blocks on a YS91. I made a couple of plywood blocks and they work fine. My conclusion is the YS91 does not make enough vibration or noise to need a soft mount!

  Jim,

They are not melting. But they get soft and turn to mush. They become into gummy bear consistency. I thought it was the oil, but I had a new in the package set already soft and tearable. They had been stored in a dark place and the package had never been opened. I think the material being used had changed from the original formulation and did not hold up like it should have. The belt material also has the cloth molded into it, which as we all know is what makes car and lawnmower belt almost impossible to tear and break. They last a long time and hold up extremely well under very harsh conditions. I hope all who try it find it as good as I did.

Are they really melting or softening / dissolving? Could be the material is incompatible with the synthetic oil used in the fuel.

    Something else to consider.

Has anyone had the rubber for these mounts soften and melt. This is the second time in the last year it happened. The mounts are MK using Dave Brown VibaDamp 4/C Isolators.
