The most interesting part of this demo is that the F/A-22 has returned
to a fully static-instability profile. That being, the elevators only
initiate a rate of change, and then move back to a trim function.
Watch the pitch-up to the vertical. The elevators move to initiate the
pitch rate, and then catch the rate change with a 'blip' of down
elevator to stop the pitch rate. The F-16 used to be this way in the
prototype stages, but was changed to a 'relaxed' stability profile.
This aircraft looks full divergent if left to it's own devices.
Very cool stuff from an aerodynamic standpoint.
