[NSRCA-discussion] Raw Scores (1987 NATS)

I am not surprised that top place finishers now are scoring much higher. I
don't think judging has gotten more favorable. In the 80's we were for the
most part all modelers first. Today we have many dedicated competitors
putting a lot of effort into advancing their abilities. When I found that
old K-Factor and averaged the three used rounds I to was surprised at the
low average percentages.

I find this information interesting. Today's competitive flyers are scoring
higher as a % of total available; generally, mid to high 80's for the top
flyers. Glen Watson received the top round award for this year's NATs with
a score in excess of 89%. In Intermediate, Brett was flying in the low
90's, but hasn't seen scores like that since. So the obvious questions.
Judging gotten easier, change in K factor assignment, equipment gotten
better (like golf), or are the pilots actually better?
