Paul, all the maneuvers, and descriptions are shown in the AMA rule book.
You can download it as a pdf file from the AMA site.
On the 140-several thoughts:
1. Watch the fuel line while running-if you see bubbles after a while check
the engine temp. On some early engines the case temp would cause the fuel to
boil.
2. Take the needle assembly apart and pull out the metering part. Watch out
for the o rings you can shear them. It comes out easier one way than the
other-I don't remember which. Look at the slots milled in the bar with a
magnifying glass and you may find that it is not clean . Doesn't take much
to screw it up.
3. Call Lamar Blair on his cell phone --256-303-8349 and he can help, plus
may have other ideas. There is a procedure somewhere-he can tell you where-
to get the idle adjustment/ regulator set correctly. Has to do with bringing
it back to idle-checking RPM @ 2000-and seeing what it does setting there.
The two interact and can get you way out of the ballpark. Again call Lamar
and talk to him. May have to jog his memory since we have not been flying
them for several years.
3. Advice on leaky cover gasket is good-check it, also I assume you took the
regulator apart and cleaned/blew out all passages, and made sure nothing was
sticking.
4. What fuel and how old? They run best on 30% heli-cool power- it has
different oil than the pattern blend, and runs better. Old can cause lots of
different symptoms--bad!! especially if it was in a can.
Hope this helps--if you still cannot get it going you might send it to us,
and we will give you a loaner until it runs right. Lamar works cheap:)
Hope this gets you going.
Jerry
