Hogwash.

This is purely perception at least for Masters and below. The FAI
schedules may have dictated a design philosophy change, but that's
where it ends (currently).

When anyone wins a major contest, there is always a rush by people to
buy the winning design, especially from those who feel this new design
will somehow make them better. There is no single design out there
that will guarantee a winner, just as there is no single design that
would guarantee a non-winner.

It's all the in the thumbs. Any competitive design in the last 6+
years could win Masters right now. Hell.. there's nothing in that
schedule that would prevent an airplane designed in the last TEN years
from winning.
