Paul,

You should be fine with the Patriot. Bryan's designs tend to stand the test 
of time. I know Jim Thompson is still flying the Patriots he builds, and 
he's in Masters. If he ever practiced, he'd be competitive too. I believe 
there's probably a Patriot or even a Patriot 3D out there for sale down here 
if you were looking to buy one as a backup.
